Acrylics on canvas | 48×60" | 2020 | Black with silver finish contemporary gallery frame (approx. 50×62" framed) | One of a kind original
This painting came without a plan.
In 2015, Cloud Kent underwent open heart surgery. His mother sat with him through all of it — watching her soldier dying on that table, not turning away, love pouring out of her like something she could not contain and would not stop even if she could.
Five years later, in 2020, he painted a woman bold in pink on white — eyes closed, hair loose and free the way water moves, paint dripping downward like everything releasing at once. Forty-eight inches wide, sixty inches tall. Big enough to fill a room the way she filled his when he was dying.
He finished it, stepped back, and something in him said: that is her. The woman who birthed him... watched him die and loved him back to life.
She did not know she was in the painting. He did not know he was putting her there. That is the truest thing he has ever made.
AMOR DE FLOR means Love of the Flower. A flower does not choose who it gives its beauty to. It gives without condition, without asking what it will receive in return.
Pure acrylics. The drips are not accidents. Nothing in this piece is.
This is a single original work. Once it finds its home, it is gone.
